About Sarah

Sarah Cox, LPC Candidate

Therapist

Life is hard- and in today’s world- it can sometimes feel nearly impossible. I am honored to be invited into someone’s experience to offer a helping hand during the hardest times. Sometimes, just having someone who can validate your pain and your perspective is enough to ignite a desire to create meaningful change in your life. Whether you are dealing with “normal”, day-to-day stressors or life-altering experiences, I take my role as your therapist seriously and will never underestimate the amount of strength it takes for you to seek help or the amount of trust required to invite me to sit with you in your struggle.

Sarah obtained her bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Forensic Psychology from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. After obtaining experience as a correctional case manager, she later returned to complete a Master of Science in Community Counseling. She is currently a licensed professional counselor candidate (LPC-C) under supervision part-time at Oklahoma Counseling Group in Yukon, OK. OCG is a special place for Sarah as she first joined during her graduate internship in 2021, learning multiple techniques under registered play therapists. From a holistic point-of-view, she utilizes an integrative approach and enjoys working with clients from Pre-K through adulthood in both office and school settings. She has additional training in trauma and family systems therapy, a significant interest in personality and epigenetic theories, and a true passion for women’s mental health issues.

Outside of therapy, Sarah enjoys reading, watching movies, and spending time with her family-husband and 3 children- while cheering them on in multiple sports and activities. Connecting with close friends, walking, music, adequate sleep, and self-reflection are a few of her favorite ways to address her own mental health.

“I know you might be overwhelmed, so I won’t tell you to have a good day. Instead, I advise you to simply have a day. Stay alive, drink some water, feed yourself well, get some sleep, wear comfortable clothes, and don’t give up on yourself just yet. Rest. It will get better. Until then, just have a day.” -Unknown
